Here's What Some of Our Students Are Saying About Training With Us

A Principal Based Approach

1

Most people struggle for longer than they need to simply because they waste time chasing the symptoms rather than the causes.

Of course you need to experience some relief, but the ultimate goal is permanent resolution, not temporary relief.

And, if you’ve already tried several approaches like surgery, pt, chiropractic, drugs, and other therapies, but still live with discomfort or imbalances, this is the reason why.

You first need understand what’s causing the discomfort you’re experiencing. You do this by identifying external causes and internal causes. We call this the “Low Hanging Fruit.”

The first principal is cause and effect.

2

Now that you have identified what’s causing your issues, you quickly establish a new baseline to work from. This involves regulating your musculoskeletal system and nervous system to allow your body to rebalance and harmonize itself.

The key word there is “allow” which is the second principal. This is radically different than other approaches out there that forcefully attempt to push and pull the body into balance.

As internal practitioners, we follow a basic set of postural, movement and breathing alignments which creates the right internal environment. This easily allows the body to globally relax into its natural rhythms and movement patterns.

This helps bring the body back to its natural design.

3

Integration is the third principal and is where the rubber meets the road.

Having the chance to work together is great and is obviously an essential part of learning, however, in order to transform and feel our best, the principals need to be seamlessly incorporated into your daily life.

This allows the practice to become second nature and starts to unfold on a subconscious level. This turns activities of daily life into opportunities for therapy which is what helps to accelerate and maintain the change inside your body.

Not only that, this is what gives you true power. This empowers you, the practitioner, to create a deeply relaxing, balanced therapeutic effect on your body and nervous system, on command.

Prior to learning this method you would have needed to see a body worker, chiropractor, pt or acupuncturist to have a similar effect. And, if you do work with someone already, this will complement their work and speed up the process.

  • “When I started taking class with Root of Movement I was in constant pain from an old ankle injury that kept getting re-injured. It had been treated by acupuncturists as well as Western doctors, but the relief was only temporary. It has now been six months since I started taking class and I rarely think about that injury. I am almost never in pain. Beyond that, Qi Gong and Ba Gua have released tension that I didn’t know was there before. I highly recommend these classes!"

Javier Picayo, Licensed Acupuncturist, East Village NYC

  • "Jonathan is an exceptional teacher and his classes are a highlight of my week. My relationship to my body has changed immensely since studying Ba Gua with him - I feel stronger, more resilient and have greater awareness of my body’s structural integrity, balance and gravitational dynamics. Practicing Ba Gua and Qigong also compliments my sitting practice. Ba Gua was challenging from the beginning, but it quickly revealed a range of motion and movement that I was not accessing and have since begun to enjoy."

    Daniel Cowen, Filmmaker, Manhattan

  • "I was intrigued to start an internal practice because I heard about the benefits of having a meditative practice, but I knew I needed something physical as well. Little did I know, that even in a year so much could change within my body and my relationship to my holding patterns. After class I feel magical. I finally feel like I understand how to breathe and my breathing is so much deeper. I am so grateful for all I have discovered thus far."

    Kenna, Professional Dancer/Nutritionist/Acupuncturist, Queens, NYC

  • "I’m extremely busy at work and my mind is constantly racing. The way Jonathan presents the material allows me to focus on the movements and my breath which I find carries over to the rest of my day. They make it incredibly easy to understand and follow. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to feel better, more focused and more balanced"

    Jason, Business Executive, Flatiron, NYC
